Topping is defined as the addition of color to the fabric after completing one dyeing process. Sometimes it is found that the dyed fabrics do not match with the standard or buyer approved swatch then it needs to re dyeing, this process is called topping. Tipping sequence is near similar as the full dyeing sequence.
Generally, topping is done for the cotton fabric which is dyed by the reactive dyes. Here, I have given a topping process sequence on the cotton fabric which is dyed by the reactive dyes.

Unloading the dyed fabric
After completing a dyeing process, shade of the dyed fabrics are checked by the quality control department. If the shade of the dyed goods does not match with the buyers approved swatch then they give decision for topping or stripping.
Topping is an additional process which add extra dyeing cost on the dyeing process. So, a textile engineer should be aware about the dyeing of the fabrics.
